In November 01, 1986 together with his friends Dolores Lopez-Lira and Jose Luis Martinez of Lomas Travel Group founded IVI Cancun’s DMC and since then he has been the dynamic entrepreneur of many other enterprises interconnected to the hospitality industry all over Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and the US, such as:

Career Steps: (1971-1986)

His career commenced at the Acapulco Hilton Hotel (1971) from being a vigorous Dry & Cleaning Valet to Bellman, Groups and Conventions Manager then at the Canadian Pacific Hotel (1975). He was appointed as the youngest ever DOS all over Mexico with Continental Hotels (1976). He acted as Regional DOS and Marketing for Fiesta Americana, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn (1979). He was invited to head up the Sales and Marketing team for the Hyatt Regency Cancun (1984) as Regional DOS and Marketing until his departure to become a successful entrepreneur.

Associations & Honors:

He was President for the HSMAI at the Acapulco Chapter (1982-1984), President for the Cancun Travel Agencies Association (AMAV 1992-1994)) and Consultant for many Mexican and International Associations in our Hospitality Industry. He is active member and part of the Board of Director for ADME – Association of Destination Management Companies (2004). Also he is the founder and President for the Mexican Association of DMCs (2004). He has received numerous awards, recognitions, diplomas and testimonials from Incentive Houses, Event Companies, Government; Associations and clients from all over the world.

Education:

He has a Graduate Degree in Tourism Administration at the State University of Guerrero (1976). He also counts with numerous diplomas and certifications from Cornell University, Holiday Inn University, SITE, ADME, ISMP, MPI and HSMAI

Personal Information:

José-Manuel was born in Mexico City in 1951, raised in Acapulco, Catskills at upstate New York., actually he lives in Cancun. Married to his wife, Araceli (1974), they have two children and two grand children. In his personal time he enjoys meeting people, reading; playing golf, tennis or bowling. “Attitude is everything”

After her birth in Acapulco, Alicia was raised in Cancun and has accumulated 20 years of experience in the tourism industry. Her experience includes top executive positions in DMC companies and prestigious hotel chains. Completing various MPI and SITE university courses as well as marketing and ISO 9000 Quality Standard courses, Alicia has sharpened her skills to where she was recognized as the first Latin American to achieve the DMCP Designation (Destination Management Certified Professional) from ADME. She has been with the IVI family for five years handling marketing strategies as well as business and planning departments under her direction.

Born in Acapulco, Mexico, Manolo has been a resident of Cancun for 22 years with more than 5 of those working in computer systems. He studied and graduated at the Anahuac University of Cancun in Communication and has used this knowledge in his work.

Working with IVI Cancun since 1998, Manolo is IVI Cancun’s Quality Director. He also assists in the development of IVI Cancun’s Interactive CD-ROM Editions for Meso-American Tourism.

Liliana PADILLA ASSISTANT TO MANAGING DIRECTOR Contact me Born in Mexico City, studied International Relations at Universidad Iberoamericana Campus Santa Fe. Working for a Brokerage firm as the International Area Director Assistant for 5 years in Mexico City & then moved to Riviera Maya working for a Dive Center at Puerto Aventuras Marina as Dive Shop Manager. She was Assistant to a Real Estate Company Director & currently being part of the IVI Family. In love with the Tourism industry, providing the best attitude & service.

José-Manuel "Manolo" GARCIA QUALITY DIRECTOR Contact me Born in Acapulco, Mexico, Manolo has been a resident of Cancun for 23 years with more than 7 of those working in different areas such as: Operations, Systems, Marketing and now in the Quality area at this company. He studied and graduated at the Anahuac University of Cancun in Communication and has used this knowledge in his work. Susann BEHRENDT BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER Contact me Susann began her journey in the travel industry with 2 ½ years of extensive hotel training in Germany. She followed that up with hotel experience in both Germany and South Africa. This experience has helped her to develop her multilingual skills. She continues to update her knowledge in this field with various MPI and SITE University Courses as well as Sales and ISO 9000-9001 Quality Standard Courses. She is recognized yearly for her hard work to make every client group extremely satisfied through awards such as Employee of the Year in 2000 and Manager of the Year in 2003. Susann is not only known by her international clients for being a success, she is well known locally as well. She has definitely made a bright and successful path in her career with IVI Cancun handling new accounts and managing three account executives.

Francisco BAEZA ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE Contact me Born in Mexico City and raised in Querétaro, Francisco grew up in a small town also known as the belly of México. He arrived to Cancún in 2004 after working for Walt Disney World in Orlando where he developed skills in organization, leadership, team work, and service, among other things. Arriving to paradise he found a couple of jobs where their main asset was getting to know the perception of international tourisms in México providing extraordinary customer service. He kept looking for career opportunities until he found IVI Destination Management starting now in the Business Department.

Antonio LOPEZ ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE Contact me Born in a small town in the State of Sonora, Antonio was later raised in Mexico City. City life gave him opportunities to learn the family transportation business which gave him a base in sales, administration, operations as well as public relations. Around the same time, Antonio studied Business Management and graduated successfully from the Top Management College (Alta Direccion Empresarial - Colegion de Graduados). On his arrival to Cancun in 1998, he delved into the tourism industry working with travel agencies first as a hotel representative and later as a travel desk official. This experience primed him for becoming a representative for IVI at several of our area resort locations. Since March of 2007, we have been proud to have Antonio as a part of our Business Team.

Marina ZABALA PLANNING & EVENTS MANAGER Contact me Graduated from the Superior Tourism and Hospitality School in Córdoba, Argentina, where she started her professional career, acquiring a vast experience working as a Travel Agent specializing in Reservations, Contracting and Events Organization. Attendance to numerous national and international courses has increased her expertise in hospitality which has further been enhanced by personal experiences of worldwide traveling. She arrived in Mexico 7 years ago, felt in love with the country taking the decision to living and working in Cancun, since that time she performed several jobs in prestigious International Hotels and Travel Agencies. From February 2005, Marina is proudly part of our IVI A-Team at the Planning and Events Department.

Liliana GILES PROGRAM EXECUTIVE Contact me Born in Mexico City, raced in province cities like Morelia where she finished her career in Accounting, her graduation present was a trip to Cancun and simply fell in love of the ocean and white sandy beaches, it was 18 years ago, since then has work in the Tourism Industry, from a Sales Manager Assistant to Groups & Incentives Manager. Now she’s part of IVI Family with her own family of 3 children who are the motor in her life, and always with a big smile in her face.

David ROJAS PROGRAM EXECUTIVE Contact me Born and raised in Chiapas México where he finished his studies in International Relations; right after that he moved for one year to Germany where he learned the language in addition to the English, which he already speaks from school and trips. Since he came back to Mexico has worked in International Hotels and Receptive Agencies in Cancun, winning experiences with tourists from all over the world. David joined the IVI family first as a Senior Event Coordinator and now, because of his knowledge and well done job, he got promoted to the Planning Events Department as a Program Executive.

Raquel MIJARES PROGRAM EXECUTIVE Contact me Born in Chihuahua, she has lived in Cancun for 25 years. Raquel graduated from the Anahuac University of Cancun in Hotel Management and immediately started her vocation in the Tourism Industry working at the Front Desk on very important Hotels. Now she is using her experience working as Program Executive at the Planning & Events Team.

Adriana SALINAS PROGRAM EXECUTIVE Contact me Born in Acapulco, raised in Cancun until her high school studies, she moves back to Acapulco for five years to complete her carrier studies in Communication and Public Relations, always interested to be in contact with the “outside world” and to get into the Tourism industry. She increased her knowledge and experience working at the Conventions and Visitors Bureau in Acapulco and Tourist State Dependence. Back in Cancun she collected basic experiences in the hotel business working at the front desk, always following her wish to have direct contact with people and different cultures. Adriana is now part of IVI Planning & Events Department.

Mario DIAZ PROGRAM EXECUTIVE Contact me Mario Angel Diaz was born in Acapulco and raised in Cuernavaca. From 2001 to 2005 he lived in Oahu, Hawaii earning a Bachelors degree in International Cultural Studies with an emphasis in Communications from Brigham Young University Hawaii campus. Using his knowledge Mario is now part of the great IVI team working in the Planning & Events Department.

Jorge OROZCO PROGRAM EXECUTIVE Contact me Born in Mexico, D.F. Jorge Orozco Esquenazi, has been doing hospitality work for the last 3 years, working in a 5 diamonds hotel in front-desk, he has experience in outstanding service. Besides being organized and having things done well, Jorge enjoys reading books mainly Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Mario Benedetti. Jorge became an IVI Program Executive to build a solid career working for the best DMC Company in México.

Joaquín ROSADO DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS Contact me Born and raised on the Yucatan Peninsula and a full-time resident of Cancun since the discovery and conception of the exciting paradise. Over 20 years in Tourism: primarily in major DMC´s. His vast experience enables him and his crew to move mountains (demanding incentive travel programs, conventions, association & corporate groups). Co-founder and backbone of IVI Cancun DMC.

Salomón RUIZ OPERATIVE LOGISTIC MANAGER Contact me Born in Chiapas, Mexico, Salomón has been a full-time resident of Cancún for 15 years. Graduating the Cancún School of Technology in Hotel Administration, he has been with IVI Cancún for 4 years. Salomón is especially adept at knowing the ins-and-outs of our locale.

Laura BUSTOS SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER Contact me Laura was born in Mexico City, she lives in Cancun since she was one year old. Graduated in computers systems Engineering with specialty in networks and distributed systems at ITC (Cancun's Technology Institute) in 2006.
