El Camaleon Golf Course at the Mayakoba - 18 Hole a Greg Norman's latest masterwork - Signature Course

Description

Location
El Camaleón is located 45 minutes south of Cancun in the heart of the mystic Riviera Maya. Just minutes from the dynamic beach destination of Playa del Carmen, El Camaleón is the centerpiece of the luxury resort development of Mayakoba which includes the 401 room deluxe hotel The Fairmont Mayakoba, Riviera Maya.

Description
El Camaleón is aptly named for its diverse layout and ever-changing landscape, which bends through tropical jungles, dense mangroves and oceanfront stretches of sand with holes bordered by massive limestone canals. The indigenous and environmentally inspired design aspects are evident from the opening fairway, by an imposing cenoté, an ancient underground cavern that was unearthed during the initial stages of course construction. El Camaleón is the only course in the Riviera Maya featuring two holes just steps from the Caribbean Sea.

Signature Hole
The 15th is the hole that will define the El Camaleón experience. At only 160 yards from the back marker the hole plays directly towards the vibrant waters of the Caribbean Sea. The large green sets the stage for a memorable shot as the nearby waves gently soothe the golfer's soul. Don't be fooled, this hole is not to be taken lightly, especially when the tropical winds pick up. Regardless of your score, the ocean view will remain with the player long after the round.

SWING A ROUND IN THE JUNGLE
AT THE FAIRMONT MAYAKOBA

El Camaleón Golf Course at the Mayakoba resort is Greg Norman's latest masterwork. The 7,000-yard layout is unique - not just to Mexico but to the entire world of golf. The course bends through three distinct landscapes - mangrove jungles, limestone canals and stunning, oceanfront stretches of sand. El Camaleón incorporates a cenote, a massive underground cavern, into the heart of the opening fairway.

The handsome, Mayan influenced clubhouse that rises above the 18th green will feature a fine dining room with stunning views over the course. The adjoining practice facility and driving range are of international caliber. With Mayakoba's unique system of lagoons, golfers will be able to step out of their rooms and into a boat, which will ferry them directly to the first tee. El Camaleón Golf Course will be managed by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.
