Description

Holbox is located 10 kilometers to the west of Cabo Catoche. To visit this island it is necessary to take the ferry that depart from the mainland of Chiquilá

This is a little-visited island of fishermen and for many years, Holbox was known as Island of Shark men. We can still find some old shark fishermen that narrates us feats of when the shark was fished with harpoon in hand.

Time has brought changes in Holbox activity, and now the inhabitants earn their livelihood from the flake fish, lobster, snail and octopus.
