LOCATION:
Kukulcan avenue, opposite to the conventions center. Type of restaurant
and menu: “Hacienda el mortero” is a two story mexican
style restaurant. The menu is based on mexican dishes, cuts of export-grade
beef and high quality seafood.
Specialties:
Grilled mixed or seafood for two persons, served on a clay hog.
Marinated shrimps served on a pineapple.

Ambience and atmosphere:
Closed restaurant with air-condition and windows, fountain at the
center, plants, chandeliers and wall mounted lamps typical of a
hacienda. Blue table linen, white napkins and tablecloth covers.
Glassware:
blue blown glass.
Chinaware:
yellow and blue talavera
Service cutlery:
stainless steel
Tables lighted with copper chandeliers and individual candles, providing
a cozy and inviting atmosphere from outside.
Ample gardens, plants, trees, cactus and caribbean palm trees with
tivoli lighting that decorates the place.
Decoration:
Showy façade
with quarry sculptures, bell tower and a coat-of arms.
It represents an architectural jewel of colonial times.
The interior style is from the xvii century. The restaurant is a
copy of the main inner court of a famous hacienda located in suzhil,

Walls, arches and columns around the central area are orange, blue,
green and beige colored.

At present, “el mortero” has been extended. That extension
is called “el patio del mortero”, decorated with a kiosk,
four light plant oasis, artistic ironwork handrails, sunshades,
palm trees and gardens with mexican decoration.

Hostess: different regional costumes: from the state of jalisco,
huipil (loosely fitting blouse), norteño (from the north

Waiters: gray trousers, white shirt, red scarf and black shoes and
belt.
Garrotero (one that clears the table): gray trousers, white country
style shirt, blue scarf, black shoes and belt.
Cook: traditional uniform, black trousers, white duck-cloth jacket
with ¾ sleeve with a front set of buttons and a cap.
Headwaiter: yucatecan huipil
