You
have chosen Cancun for your next conference because you want it
to be a success. Now you can offer your attendees the exciting
possibility to visit Xcaret and take home lasting impressions
of their stay in Mexico. And add extra value to your convention.
Xcaret is located on the Mexican Caribbean Coast, 70km
(35 Mi) south of Cancun Airport. In 1992, Xcaret was officially
introduced to the public as Nature’s Sacred Paradise, and the
only eco-archeological park in Mexico. Since then, Xcaret
has become one of the main tourist attractions of the region.
The Park offers a variety of options for group events, entertainment
programs, lunch and dinner arrangements at any time of the year
Xcaret
opened 9 years ago as we know it now but for more than a millennium,
it was a ceremonial and port center for the Mayans known as "POLE".
It is believed that the Mayans would come here to purify their
souls and bodies prior to crossing to Cozumel to worship IXCHEL
goddess of Fertility or before leaving on a trading trip. When
the Spaniards arrived they would ask the Mayans the name of the
place and because of the language barrier, the Mayans assumed
that they were asking the name of the inlet and would answer Xcaret
which means "Little Inlet" in the Mayan language. After that this
place was known as Xcaret and the name Pole remained in
the darkness until archaeologist from Mexico City discovered the
original name. You can still see the remains of this place around
the park and in the evenings, for Xcaret nights,
the old Pole lives again.
