| Due
to a convergence of two large biological masses, one is
the north continent and the other is the south continent,
a large biodiversity is found in this territory. Although
Costa Rica comprises only 0.03% of the surface of the planet
about 5% of all life can be found here. With an active program
of conservation of strategic wild areas transformed in biological
reserves or national parks the Costa Rican people have been
foremost in preserving those great gifts of nature.
There are, for instance, 850 species of birds. Other tropical
life you might encounter in a walk through a forest or jungle
are abundant amount of monkeys, or maybe an armadillo, or
a sloth, squirrels, anteaters, badger, iguanas, just to
mention a few.
Another sight to behold is the eruptions of the Arenal Volcano
(Sandy Volcano). That's an unforgettable experience! It
is spectacular!
In addition there are other volcanoes; some of them with
spectacular views of its surrounds; and not few have cute
lagoons close by.
The cloud forest is also a unique experience for anybody
but especially for nature lovers. Monteverde and Poas National
Park are outstanding examples of this type of forest. They
are magnificent with their vegetation, brooks, cascades
and fauna. The beaches are wonderful also.
