Due to a convergence of two grand biological areas, one from the north continent and the other from the south continent, a large biodiversity is found in this territory. Although Costa Rica comprises only 0.03% of the surface of the planet about 5% of all life can be found here. With an active program of conservation of strategic wild areas transformed in biological reserves or national parks the Costa Rican people have been foremost in preserving those great gifts of nature.
