The historical value and the multiplicity of cultural institutions and recreational spaces, have transformed the Chapultepec Park into the main center of attractions for the inhabitants of the city and a "must to see" in the itinerary of the national visitors and foreigners. The Park is an enormous 2,100-acre greenway with lakes, playgrounds, a small zoo and botanical gardens The heart of the city beats in Chapultepec.. The corners of the city and the "ahuehuetes" (old trees) narrate us the history; it has been place of kings' recess, of rest and poetry. Chapultepec, originally the private domain of Aztec rulers (and the infamous Emperor Maximilian), is crowned by the Castle, emperors' habitation and presidents until Lázaro Cardenas opened it to the public in 1939.
