Manzanillo

Description

Manzanillo is one of the most beautiful beach destinations of the country. It is located 299 km south of Guadalajara (340 km southeast of Puerto Vallarta) in the state of Colima. Its climate is warm with a low humidity and the annual average temperature lies between 26 and 28° C.

Manzanillo is known as the ´World capital of sail fish´, because since 1957 there have been fishing tournaments (national and international), like ´la Copa Dorsey´, which made the destination one of the most attractive ones for lovers of this sport.

On its beaches with fine sand and a small incline, like Miramar and La Audiencia, you can practice different water sports like diving and snorkeling. From a yacht you can watch the beautiful bays of Manzanillo and Santiago, enjoy the sun or admire the incredible landscape like the abundant vegetation which are perfect for practicing ecotourism, camping and other sport adventures.

In Manzanillo you can find modern hotel complexes in a Mediterranean, Moorish and Mexican stile, three golf courses with international prestige, some of them surrounded by lakes, see and mountains, which offer all services and infrastructure needed in order to enjoy your stay and practicing the golf.

In the centre of the town are numerous restaurants that offer traditional plates from the Colima kitchen like ´el ceviche´ or ´el tatemado´, a dish prepared using the spine of a pig. Furthermore there are markets with crafts like hammocks and necklaces made of shells, bars and cafés where you can chat and enjoy the nightlife. Do not forget to visit el Malecón, el Jardín Obregón and el Monumento al pez vela!
