Description

Talpa is a rustic village, with a population of about 10500, situated in a valley surrounded by pine covered mountains. It is an important religious site in Mexico with its gothic church that is home to the cherished virgin ´Rosario of Talpa´, one of the virgins known as ´the three sisters´ of Jalisco. There are 3 pilgrimages a year to see the Virgin "Rosario of Talpa", a small statue that is said to have healing powers; on these occasions the town's population triples.

Talpa is located at an altitude of more than 4000 feet, which gives it a permanent spring climate, perfect for having a walk through the streets, discovers the shops and the friendly people. Some stores sell crystallized fruit, little baskets, heads and sandals made from chewing gum. It is derived from the Chitle tree which grows locally.
