Tepic
is the beautiful capital of Nayarit, located 160 km north
of Puerto Vallarta. The climate is pleasant the largest part
of the year and there are many interesting places to visit
in this colonial city. It is a dynamic metropolis that offers
a large number of high quality services. Tepic has hotels
up to five Stars and restaurants where they prepare delicious
typical plates using shell-fish and fish.
Because
of its central location, almost all tourist destinations in
Nayarit, beaches, mangroves, lakes, places to camp and climb,
archeological zones, etc. are just minutes away from Tepic
using the highways, roads and paths in whatever time of the
year.
In
Tepic you can find the extraordinary ´chaquira´
crafts made by the ´Coras´ and ´Huicholes´
which can be found everywhere in the city. Furthermore it
is worth visiting the cathedral from the 19th century. It
is an impressive building of 40 meters high in a neo-gothic
style with on its sides two lightly-build towers.
Then
there is the church and ex convent ´de la cruz de Zacate´
from de 1540´s, where the legendary natural ´cruz
de Zacate´ can be found. It is considered to be miraculous
because without any maintenance the cross always remains to
be green.
Tepic
